Flower Cutting

Red Barn Lavender is open during the summer for flower cutting. Typically, lavender begins to show lots of colorful buds in mid to late June, with blossoms starting to open in July. This is the time to start cutting. The beautiful show continues for several weeks.  As of July 1st, the angustifolia flowers are starting to open so flower cutting is officially open!

Our flower cutting field has a number of varieties: Old English, Royal Velvet, Pink Hidcote, Blue Hidcote, Grosso, Giant Hidcote and Twickle Purple - something for everyone!

Blue Hidcote, Royal Velvet and Grosso are wonderful in dried bunches.  Additionally, Grosso is a great flower to use in crafts because of its long stems.  Twickle Purple is also useful in crafts.  Pink Hidcote has lovely pink flowers and Old English has a wonderfully fragrant scent - cut these ones for fresh flowers.

Cost per bundle is $5. A bundle consists of approximately 100 to 150 stems. We will provide scissors and bands.

We will be happy to let you know the best time to cut flowers, but you are always welcome to come see how things are progressing. The farm will be a beautiful and relaxing place to visit all summer - bring a picnic lunch!
